Get Started with the Sonomos Extension
Follow these steps to install, set up, and start protecting your data in minutes.
Install the extension

Install from the Chrome Web Store
Click the badge below to open the listing, then select "Add to Chrome."
Open Sonomos
Launch the extension to begin onboarding
There are two ways to open Sonomos after installing it:
- On an AI site — Visit a supported site like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. The Sonomos widget appears automatically on the page. Click it to open Sonomos and start setup.
- From your browser toolbar — Click the Sonomos icon in your browser toolbar. If you don't see it, click the puzzle piece icon (Extensions menu) in your toolbar and find Sonomos in the list.
We recommend pinning the extension for quick access. Click the puzzle piece icon in your toolbar, then click the pin icon next to Sonomos. This keeps the Sonomos icon visible in your toolbar at all times so you can open it with a single click.
Review and accept the legal agreements
Required before you can proceed
Sonomos will ask you to review and accept the following four agreements:
You can expand each agreement to read it in full. Once you've reviewed them, check the confirmation box and click Continue to proceed.
Enter your email address
This is how you sign in to Sonomos
Type your email address into the field and click Send Code. Sonomos will send a 6-digit passcode to your email inbox.
If you don't already have a Sonomos account, one will be created automatically — no separate sign-up required.
Enter the passcode from your email
Check your inbox for the 6-digit passcode
Go to your email inbox and look for a message from Sonomos containing your 6-digit passcode. Enter each digit into the code fields shown in the extension — the form will auto-submit once all six digits are entered.
Don't see the email? Check your spam or junk folder — passcode emails sometimes end up there. The email may also take a minute to arrive. If you still don't see it, click "Resend code" to request a new passcode.
Choose your account type
New users only — select how you'll use Sonomos
You'll see three options. Choose the one that fits your situation:
Individual
Select this if you're using Sonomos for yourself. One seat, personal use.
Create a Team
Select this if you want to set up a team plan. You'll choose the number of seats and receive a unique team code. Share this code with your team members so they can join your plan during their own setup.
Join a Team
Select this if someone gave you a team code. Enter the code where prompted to join their existing team.
Setting up a team? After completing setup, you'll receive a unique team code to share with your team members. They'll need to select "Join a Team" during their own onboarding and enter your code where it says to. Team members must also install the extension and go through these same steps.
Have a team code? If your admin or team lead shared a code with you, select "Join a Team" and paste or type the code into the field provided. You'll be added to their team plan automatically.
Start your free trial or sign up for a plan
30 days free — no credit card required
You have two options to get started:
- Start your free 30-day trial — Get full access to all features including Dagger (detection) and Cloak (protection). No credit card required. You can decide on a plan later.
- Sign up for a plan — Choose a paid plan right away if you already know which tier works for you. See the Pricing page for details on available plans.
After the trial ends, you can subscribe to a paid plan or continue on the free tier with limited functionality. You can manage your plan anytime from the Pricing page.
You're protected
Sonomos is now active
The Sonomos widget will appear on supported AI sites and monitor your inputs in real time — no configuration needed. Adjust detection categories, toggle Cloak mode, and review settings from the widget or extension popup at any time.
